Information about Synergy Program

Synergy was gracious enough to fund our project last summer. We had a slow start with a few challenges last summer however; we are still empowering young lives way after the summer program ended with the equipment Synergy purchased last summer. Technology changes at a rapid pace and we need to update equipment each year.

We disperse the Raspberry PI and the Arduino chips to the students after the nine week program. It is our hope that each recipient will continue to further their knowledge in technology. We are currently in collaboration with 4-H, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where 60 YEAH8 students will learn LEGO Mindstorm, Raspberry PI, and Arduino programming on the university campus.

YEAH8 staff has always and will continue to promote Synergy as one of the contributors to our program. We are gracious for your past support and our anticipating continued partnership as we continue to grow in the STEM enrichment.

We are desiring to purchase updated STEM curriculum with the purchase of LEGO Mindstorm motors and additional wheels and gears, Raspberry PI kits, Arduino educational kits, and lap top to download programs to apply to the technology. With the completion of this project it will allow the participants to utilize the innovative technology making education more appealing to the students through the use of STEM curricula and technology. With the SYNERGY FORUM, INC. financial assistance to purchase technology equipment for the children of the community, it will enhance the education of the students, their parents, and the communities of Pine Bluff and Jefferson County.

Price of Tools

  • Arduino(Basic): $600.00 for 60 units($10.00)

  • Arduino sensors, bulbs, batteries: $300.00 for 60 units($5.00)

  • Raspberry Pi 2: $1,050 for 30 units($35.00)

  • Dell Inspiron Laptop($549.00)

  • Total Cost: $2,500

What is Arduino?

Arduino programming introduces another form of technology through the use of a microchip. It is a standalone system and allows fro LED and other building sensors, applications , and mainly the capacity of building a mega robot for future state competitions. This is the least expensive of the technology budget and each participant will leave the program with an Arduino that they programmed.
